A fantastic start to the Blue Octopus and Bizview partnership
izview Systems entered a partnership with the Belgium-based consultancy Blue Octopus in the beginning of 2019. The partnership has taken off with a tremendous start. In fact, Blue Octopus has already acquired two new customers, Winsol and CLOVA. We asked Jorn Van den Driessche from Blue Octopus what he has to say about this accomplishment.
Tell us shortly about Blue Octopus and the services that you provide.
Jorn: We can summarize that very quickly: Blue Octopus is providing Corporate Performance Management Services, towards SME’s, focusing on Budgeting, Reporting and Dashboarding. But there is much more to it: we want to make sure that the companies we help out can focus more on their business, and that we will provide them with the correct information. We think that’s a lot more than just ‘doing CPM’.
That sounds indeed more than just doing ‘CPM’. How are you able to bring the data to the people that need it?
Jorn: We have two very strong focuses: data collection and bringing people together around the information they need to run their business. This means that we both manage the technical part as the processing and business part. The combination of those skills is giving us a great advantage: we can fulfill an important bridge function between business and IT. By translating the requirements in a technical data integration, we can deliver the information faster.
BizView is playing a huge role in delivering the promise: it provides us the single platform that integrates the pure data and visualizes it in dashboards, reports and easy to understand analysis.
Blue Octopus and Bizview entered a partnership at the beginning of 2019, and you have already acquired two new customers, and there has been great interest in your services. Tell us a bit more, why do you think you have experienced this success?
Jorn: We do think that there are multiple reasons for this success. But just let me name three that are related to the specific offering with BizView.
The first reason is the focus on the SME’s. You should know that Belgium, and Flanders in particular, has a lot of SME’s - often still family owned. With BizView we have found the right fit for their needs: data automation, an Excel look and feel for their reports and budgets. That’s just what they need. Something that works, can be rolled out fast and delivers what it promises at their size.
Offer the solution at an affordable price for the SME and you have a second reason for the success.
Count in the power to analyze and visualize the data on a single platform and follow-up users with a strong workflow. There you have a third reason for success: all functionality on a single platform.
And then there is off course our unique approach: a combination of technique and analysis. All with the sole purpose to have a bigger picture in mind, but just letting companies take one step at a time.
We bring in 20 years of experience in BI and CPM, with a low-level entry: only do what is really needed in the beginning. The rest will grow along with the needs and the deeper gained insights.
Why do you think there is such great interest in the types of services that you offer?
Jorn: A lot of companies feel the urge to automate their data integration process and make better decisions based on their analysis.
An important part of them is still putting a lot of manual effort in the data processing, using Excel files for their monthly reporting, analysis (if any) and budgeting. The main reason is that they still think that those type of CPM solutions are only for enterprise size companies and are extremely expensive.
We prove them the opposite: with a limited budget you can already automate your financial closure process and set-up an integrated budgeting module. This is opening a whole new world to them, letting them see the opportunities that lie ahead instead of living in the past.
